How to Solve Common PC Failure Problems Troubleshooting

Ever came into an instance where your your computer monitor simply refuses to switch itself on. Or the computer does not want to boot into windows? Or you are faced with a blue screen, which we call named as the blue screen of death in computer terms?

No Image on LCD Monitors

There are 3 reasons to why there are no image on the LCd monitors.

1)Power cord is not secure.

Ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into the computer monitor and the power is switched on. When a monitor is switched on, it will usually have a yellow or green light indicating the switch on status

2) Computer Graphics not attached

There are usually 2 cables coming from out from LCD, one will be the power cord and the other will be your display cable. Make this that this is securely linked to your CPU's back panel. If you have a dedicated graphics card, remove the card and connect the display cable to the onboard graphics.

3) The last reason will be the hardware failure of your LCD monitor

If your hear the CPU starting up, the fans are spinning and the hard disk is working, and you have checked the above 2 problems, high chance the LCD monitor is faulty. If it is under warranty, get it repair, if not, purchase a new computer monitor as the prices are getting cheaper.

*Not all computer mainboard have onboard graphics.

You are unable to enter Windows

There are several factors that causes this failure, the most common reason will be files in windows are corrupted.

1) If you are having a constant blue screen of death that is preventing you from going into windows, you might have a ram problem. To check, open up your computer casing and look for your ram. It is located near to your CPU,

Try swapping the ram and test on another PC to check if the same problems occurs.

Or if you have 2 sticks of rams, try removing one to see if the problem if it solves the blue screen, if it still exist, try swapping the rams. There is usually around 60% chance that rams are the causes. If you swap both sticks of rams, but have the blue screen of death,the problems might be with the windows file.

2) Alternatively, try to enter "safe mode" by pressing F8 continuously when the computer is booting up. A long menu should appear and select "safe mode". If you are able to boot into safe mode, do a "System Restore" to restore your computer back to a previous state. After which, reboot your Pc normally.

3) If not, the last resort is to reinstall your windows, which will restore everything back to the initial state.

Not able to go online

There are a lot of reasons causing you not to be able to go online. Some of the reasons are

Your Network is down

If the rest of the computers on the network are having the same problem going online, check with your office network administrator for more information.

Website is down

Is the particular website down? Try going to yahoo.com and google.com If you are able to access the 2 pages, but you are unable to access your webpage, the website you wish to visit might have hosting problems. Wait for a few hours before trying to visit it again.

Your PC has connection problems

If you are unable to visit yahoo.com or google.com, then the reason is your PC has problems connecting to the internet. Ensure that you are the only one having this issue in your network before trying to troubleshoot this.

- Ensure you have an IP address and it does not begin with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx. To check for ip address, go to the START button on the bottom left and type in "CMD" A black screen should appear and type in "IPCONFIG" (without quotes) in. Your IP address will be displayed.

- Check under your Device Manager and verify that your network adapter is installed. Go to CONTROL PANEL >> SYSTEMS >> HARDWARE >> Device Manager

Conclusion

Know your limitations to repair PC. Some of the minor problems can be DIY-ed using knowledge from this hub.
